Plantation Resort and Hobbies

Blaine opened a jewelry business in McLean, Virginia in 1971. He also worked in real estate development and sales in Virginia. After the Arab Oil Embargo, Blaine worked in real estate development and sales in Virginia and North Carolina. The family moved to Myrtle Beach in 1977 with everything they owned in the back of an U-Haul truck. He sold time shares at the Golden Sands Beach Club and at Deer Creek in Deerfield Plantation. In June 1978 he became the Broker-in-Charge of Deerfield Realty and also founded the property management, construction and sales and marketing companies which are today collectively known as Plantation Resort. Plantation Resort has built approximately eight-hundred homes, town homes and condominiums in Deerfield Plantation. These include about three-hundred-twenty-five vacation ownership condominiums. Plantation Resort provides year-round employment for hundreds of people, making it one of the largest employers in the county.

 

Blaine served as the Bishop of the Myrtle Beach Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from September 1986 through April 1991. He has also served in other church leadership positions for years. He taught an early-morning scripture study class for high school students in his home for four-and-one-half years. The class was held about 170 days a year during each school year. He has also taught Sunday school classes for many years.

 

Blaine was a charter member of the Surfside Beach Rotary Club. In 1995, he was elected to the office of Chairman of the Horry County Republican Party. Following a two-year term, he was elected to another two-year term as County Republican Party State Committeeman. In this capacity, he served as liaison between the County Republican Party and the South Carolina State Republican Party. Lynda has served as President of the Myrtle Beach Republican Woman’s Club and as State Secretary in the South Carolina Federation of Republican Women.

 

In October 2006, Blaine and Lynda left Myrtle Beach to serve for one year as full time missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the church headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah. They have since returned home and Blaine has resumed his duties as C.E.O. and Chairman of Plantation Resort Properties, Inc. , the sales and marketing company, and also C.E.O. and Chairman of Plantation Resort of Myrtle Beach, Inc., the property management company. Blaine is also the real estate Broker-in-Charge of both companies.

 

Plantation Resort of Myrtle Beach, Inc. is the property management company which handles annual rentals, short term vacation rentals and provides all management services to the Plantation Resort time share homeowner's associations and the whole ownership condominium homeowner's associations. It also operates the health and swim club, the outdoor swimming pool complex, the lazy river facility, the maintenance and housekeeping operation, the playground and the summertime beach shuttle buses. It also provides a wide array of services to Plantation Resort time share owners and guests. In 2007, an 1,800 sq. ft. addition was added to the Plantation Resort check in and administrative building.

 

Plantation Resort Properties, Inc. is the exclusive sales and marketing real estate company for the Plantation Resort time share projects. Its offices are in the Preview Center and beside the outdoor swimming pool in the VIP office. A complete renovation of the Preview Center was completed in the spring of 2009. A complete renovation of the VIP sales office was completed in the spring of 2010. A thorough updating of the time share condominiums is now underway. The renovation of the time share sales models is complete. Financing for time share purchasers has been provided by the same bank for more than a decade. A recently completed extension of financing for time share purchasers is in place and should provide financing for time share purchasers for many years to come. Blaine is the Broker-in-Charge of both the time share sales and marketing company and the property management company.

 

Blaine’s hobbies include spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren and traveling. He has been riding motorcycles for the past fifty-two years. He also holds a commercial pilot’s license with instrument and multi engine ratings, compliments of the GI Bill. He owns two aircraft. One is a Nanchang CJ6-A Chinese Communist Air Force fighter. In his spare time he can often be found at 3,000 or 4,000 feet above the beaches performing loops, rolls, spins, stalls, cloverleafs, Immelmans and many other aerobatic maneuvers, almost making himself airsick.
